Premiere: Mouse On Mars – zeHrog

Cologne-based record label Sonig prepare to release Mouse On Mars‘ real-time sonic interpretation of Werner Herzog’s fictional documentary ‘Fata Morgana‘ (1971), which captures mirages in the Sahara and Sahel deserts.

With over 30 years of otherworldly compositions in their expansive discography, ‘Herzog Sessions‘ serves as a testament to the production duo’s penchant for avant-garde experimentation, blending dubbed-out rhythms and abstract soundscapes with remarkable dexterity, navigating a sonic landscape that oscillates between profound introspection and leftfield exuberance.

Our pick from the release is ‘zeHrog‘. Evoking the illusion of sun-drenched realms, the tracks starts with space-echoed drum patterns intertwined with scorched guitar riffs and untroubled echoes of humanity, engulfing the listeners in a stark phantasmagoria, reminiscent of laid-back cowboys drifting in daydreams of dub-infused waterfalls flowing through untamed jungles.

‘Herzog Sessions’ is scheduled for release on 25th October via Sonig. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
