A legendary figure of the Detroit deep house scene, Patrice Scott has been spinning records for over thirty years, progressively transitioning to music production at the turn of the new millennium. Since then, the great majority of his output has come out on his own 2006-founded imprint, Sistrum Recordings. This fall Scott turns up again on Sistrum with ‘Moments & Concepts‘, a lush and woozy slice of jazzy house blends tailored for languid lounging and soul-healing after-party moments.
Streaming through our channels today, the title-track’s a velveteen piano-house tune that distills its flavours on a drip-tease flex. Imagine sitting at the counter of some luxurious piano bar, sipping a vermouth while a gorgeous, evening dress-clad lady keeps glancing at you insistently. You’re in no mood to play the love partition tonight, but keep chewing over the souvenir of a lost darling. But damn that classy, sensual swing… this pianist, a real hoodoo priest… oh man, she’s one hell of a girl.
Moments & Concepts is released via Sistrum Recordings on 22nd October, pre-order a copy from Juno.
