Months go by and Dublin keeps providing us with top-notch artists and labels. Adding its name to the long list of outlets that set the Irish capital heart’s racing – including All City, Major Problems, Jheri Tracks, Repeater and a host of more confidential yet equally exciting new ventures, Goldbrick Records kicked things off last year with a solid debut EP from Dutch talent Hekkla.
Breaking 2018 in, the Irish imprint hands the reins over to local boy R.Kitt for a glittering house gem of a 12″, fitting somewhere next to D.K. and Gaussian Curve. Hot on the heels of a promising debut last year on Pear that left us athirst for more of his uplifting dreamy groovers, the Dubliner lays down a highly alluring four-tracker that has summer and beach time written all over it.
Blending in a smoothly arranged combo of chimey synthwaves, vibrant strings and lush exotica accents, our pick – ‘Tingle‘ – takes you to a far-off land where rent, bills and groceries have nothing on white sand and halcyon creeks. Draped in warm analogue folds, the track unfurls with the sleek, untroubled movement of a quiet tide, nostalgic and deep as it gets. We expect a “real nice” comment from Hurfyd at the very least on this one, no less.
Tingle EP is released via Goldbrick Records on 23rd February, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
