Now on the cusp of their fifteenth release, Paris-based imprint Funkysouls prepare to release the ‘Raja Ranks’ EP – courtesy of British producer Raja Ranks, currently a resident at the London-based radio station Ajaa.
Following previous appearances on twin imprints French Tabloïd and Funkysouls, ‘Raja Ranks’ EP features a blend of UK roadman drill traditions, ATL trap, murky dubstep and post-R&B refix enhanced with Aaliyah’s vocals.
Our pick for the premiere is ‘1080’ – a heart-pounding slow jam that will have your heart pumping faster than the speed of light. This high-definition riddim takes you to the pantheon of earth-shaking survivors via a blend of sluggish dubstep basslines, outer-worldly signals, and breakneck hi-hats.
