Continuing their steady drip-feed of artefacts hovering somewhere between spectral ritual and lucid dreaming, Paris-based record label Ma 間 reveal ‘Sortir la tête d’une pierre‘, the forthcoming release from multi-disciplinary producer Tarez, embellished with a picture of Zoé Chauvet.
Blurring the lines between disciplines and perceptions, Taranne first emerged with ‘Liquider l’or‘ in 2021 – an alchemical novel that hinted at deeper cartographies still to be drawn. With ‘Sortir la tête d’une pierre‘, Tarez navigates fractured signals and tonal vapour, threading abstract geometries through the fog of synth-drone mysticism, downtempo and ambient. Rounded off with collaborators Sarilou and Hugo Zielinski, slipping in and out of the record’s textural aura.
Our pick is ‘Maneige (Outro)’ – a crystalline epilogue that gently dissolves the boundary between hallucination and memory. Opening with a delicate kalimba motif refracted like light through glacial crevices, the piece blossoms into a slow cascade of serene arpeggios and breathy timbral gestures. It conjures a frozen realm where a celestial dragon lies asleep beneath tectonic plates – its presence felt only in the warmth that mysteriously rises from the ice.
‘Sortir la tête d’une pierre‘ is scheduled for release 25th April via Ma 間 Records. Order a cassette copy from Bandcamp.
