UK born, now LA based deejay and producer Thomaas Banks returns to his own Sinahti imprint for ‘The Dark‘ EP, its second release.
Banks is well-known for being one half of edit supreme duo Psychemagik, a pair of diggers who’ve racked up quite the reputation for their inimitable twists of house and disco rarities and classics, plus their own original material created with the same classic touch.
On ‘The Dark‘, however, we see Banks turn his head towards unlit dancefloors and more rugged electronic terrain, with the artist delivering a tight three-track workout of old-school electro rhythms for his label’s sophomore release.
Centrepiece track ‘K900‘ is a gnarly, fangs-bared auditory assault; ornery and disgruntled from the start, the scene swiftly escalates into a full attack, with weaponised sound design blurring the edges of each aggressive onslaught. Utterly devoid of the more relaxed, fun-loving character of Psychemagik, this is a brutal introduction to Banks’ darker side of production.
