Following releases from Tokyo-based producer Gonno and French synth hotshot Romain FX, Taipei-based record label JIN line up their second outing of the compilation series ‘十十零貳‘ – a national celebration named Double Ten Day (10/10) – celebrating Taiwan’s self-reliant progress, and its distinct culture.
Featuring regulars Marco Wollenberg alias Ocram Orchestra, Lemonfacer and French-born producer Initials BBRB – who also goes by the moniker ‘L’Amour Fou’ together with Move D. Consisting of 7- tracks, the compilation strides confidently through the electronic spectrum of the island’s library, delivering a laid-back dose of ambient stasis, monsoon slow burners and solid dancefloor material.
Our pick is ‘No Bomb Just Kung Fu Penguins’ from Vice City – thanks to her ancestral rhythms, misty textures, and psychedelic FX sounds, akin to what you’d expect during a Dapenkeng ceremony. In the land of spirits, leave your seatbelts at home and light up the incense.
