With three years of operation under their belt, Leeds-based LOFS imprint (Line:156) now unearth five sonic ‘Spells‘, courtesy of audiovisual archivist Lawrence Nash, also known as Ziyiz, previously featured on New York’s Kindergarten Records and Berlin-based imprint Failed Units.
Deploying turgid experimental sounds, corrupted techno rhythms and neural network poetry, Ziyiz’s debut release on LOFS imagines an artificial future in which mankind is constantly in a state of drowsiness. In order to fend off evil spirits, the producer has crafted an exquisite guide of psychedelic drone.
Our pick ‘Shadows Spell‘ encompasses high-resolution tribal drumming, ethereal chants, and rumbling earthquakes. With his perceptive vision for tomorrow, Ziyiz makes certain that his shadows last forever. Cover artwork by London-based artist Ed Thurlow.
‘Spells’ is scheduled for release on 16 August via LOFS. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
