Lb Honne: Brücke

"Four tracks that balance dancefloor utility with emotional resonance,
all in that unmistakably soft-lit, heartfelt sonic palette."

Lb Honne’s Brücke EP arrives on Smallville Records, following in the footsteps of a vast array of producers who all share a penchant for immaculately crafted house-centric grooves (Move D, Edward, Lawrence, Snad, to name just a few). Following the critical reception of his 2024 debut album Present Future/Here There, a record that moved seamlessly between contemplative downtempo and club-facing rhythms, Brücke feels like a natural continuation of the Lb Honne sound.

The Freiburg-based label provides a fitting home for this next step. Known for its deep, melodic, and unassumingly affecting forms of house music, a collaboration with Lb Honne, who is also releasing music with Swiss compatriot Ben Kaczor, seems natural. Artwork by Stefan Marx follows the naïve cover-art style synonymous with the label, and the EP itself delivers four tracks that balance dancefloor utility with emotional resonance, all in that unmistakably soft-lit, heartfelt sonic palette.

Deeper opens with simple, dub techno inspired rhythms, but quickly evolves, element by meticulously selected element (whether that’s the cut up vocal sampling, the clean clear pads, or the crisp percussion elements) into a moody yet captivating groove that barely stands still for a single bar. It’s progressive in a way that lets each element breathe, balancing complexity with more minimal techniques in a genuine, undeniable skill.

A deft flick of the mouse transforms the arrangement from dirty, grooving house burner into something more glassy-eyed and gently pulsing, and back again. The foggy haze giving way to soft technicolour light – Lb Honne at the controls.
