Rising Sun: The Eternal

"No stranger to dub techno, Rising Sun continues to venture into familiar
territories of the genre, thoroughly satisfied to refine, polish,
and perpetuate its timelessness"

In the smoke haze of dub techno, a genre that will never go out of style, Berlin-based producer Steffen Laschinski returns as Rising Sun to deliver ‘The Eternal,’ his latest testament to the soul-stirring power of deep, dubby beats.

From a decade-long wandering under his many guises to channel his perceptions as a vivid storyteller, The Ambientist via Rising Sun Melancholia, with ‘The Eternal‘ Laschinski makes moves as Rising Sun for a dreamy, dewy, morning-music drop for the Copenhagen-based label Echocord.

The EP offers six alternate versions of Rising Sun’s concept for ‘The Eternal‘ that paint different sentiments when interpreted with an open mind. The opening track takes centre stage with its muted drums and gripping spoken word vocals, floating the EP into glowing spaces of light with five more tracks forming five more loops, collisions of tense dub echo, jolting stabs of sub and enchanted strings, unfurl textures of hypnotic quality as the story unfolds. Our pick and premiere ‘Eternal 5,’ sheds layers to reveal the delicate truth beneath, handcrafted percussion and soft strings evoke a sense of primal energy.

No stranger to dub techno, Rising Sun continues to venture into familiar territories of the genre, thoroughly satisfied to refine, polish, and perpetuate its timelessness. Comparisons to other dub techno luminaries are inevitable, yet the artist takes a step further with his ability to infuse his music with a sense of depth. While echoes of Basic Channel and Deepchord may resonate, the sound is a carved niche, a fusion of personal influences and experiences. Naturally sublime from start to finish.

‘The Eternal’ is scheduled for release on the 15th March via Echocord. Order a vinyl copy from Inverted Audio Store and digital from Bandcamp.
