Following the inaugural edition last summer, Above Below Festival have revealed the first wave of acts to perform at the rural music and arts festival in Buckinghamshire.

Taking place between 2-5 June 2022, Above Below is set to the backdrop of a secluded valley within the Chiltern Hills. Spanning two stages, the intimate gathering is soundtracked by ample supplies of ambient, deep techno and leftfield house – boasting handcrafted sound systems, designed to blend the sounds, cultures and ideas from a collective of underground artists.

Inspired by like-minded festivals such as Waking Life, Monument and Nachtdigital – Above Below aims to replicate a similar vibe and atmosphere with a focus on community, intimacy and quality. Additionally, the musical direction is on genres not commonly focused on at more mainstream UK festivals – instead opting for sounds and styles that tilt towards the deeper shades of electronic music.

For the occasion, Above Below have curated a lineup to explore every avenue of smoked-out ambience, including Antepop (Inverted Audio), Ario (Astral Industries), Avsluta (Introspective Electronics), Nathalia (Experiment Intrinsic), Primal Code (Hypnus Records), 2DeepSoul (Inner Shift Music), Orion, o.utlier (Appian Sounds).

Above Below will also host a series of inclusive talks and workshops, promoting an eclectic mix of collaborative projects amongst the arts and sciences. The intimate nature of the event means every guest is equally important in contributing to the safe and welcoming atmosphere.

Tickets are on sale now. 50% of the booking fee will be donated to Hector’s House – a charity the festival organisers are working closely with, supporting suicide prevention and mental health awareness efforts.
