On Saturday 9th March, Bristol based producer and Bokeh Versions’ affiliate Sunun plays a rare live show at IKLECTIK in London.
Presented by London via Vienna cassette label Bezirk and IKLECTIK, the event will bring together artists working at the outer edges of mixing desk experiments, sampled rhythm and drenched ambience. Joining Sunun will be live sets from Me, Claudius and Gareth JS Thomas.
Sunun’s debut, ‘Ooid‘, was released on Bokeh Versions last year. The EP is a five-track masterpiece dosed with smoky atmosphere, slow motion percussion and a dream pop soul. Her live performances see tracks mixed, processed and warped in the moment. As Bokeh Versions puts it, “She dubs it old-world style, but the results are always forward – making a 22nd century chorus from thousands of years of human feedback.”
Alongside her productions, she also hosts a monthly residency on Bristol’s Noods Radio dubbed ‘Everything’s A Drum’. The show ‘explores global cultures’ music through the eyes of revolution and rhythm’.
Me, Claudius is an enigmatic experimental musician, who released ‘Good Diz, Bad Bird’ to much acclaim on Bezirk late last year. Their work is built on field recording, sampling and found instruments, snatches of sound pulled together into glitching, alien grooves. Gareth JS Thomas is a member of London based USA Nails. Solo, his work is a hot mess of cheap guitar pedals, tape machines and radio static melded together into ambient and minimalist percussive loops.
