Berlin-based Canadian producer Scott Monteith has launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund his forthcoming Deadbeat album ‘Kübler-Ross Soliloquies‘ and to help finance tax owed to the German Tax Office.
Having worked with a who’s who of some of the most respected producers in the electronic realm, including Stefen Betke (POLE), Sa Pa, Om Unit, Barbara Preisenger, Marc Leclair (Akufen) and Mike Shannon, Monteith has released music on an array of labels including Cynosure, ~scape, Wagon Repair, Spectral Sound, Musique Risquée, Echochord, Midnight Shift and his own record label BLKRTZ. Scott contributed a podcast to the IA MIX Series in 2012 and released the now legendary Radio Rothko mix CD via The Agriculture in 2010.
Now facing significant financial strain, the BLKRTZ label boss has turned to his fans for help. Explaining that “advance tax payments demanded from the German Tax Office have forced me to accelerate my creative process urgently and I am asking with all humbleness for the assistance of the many devoted listeners of my music over the last many years to help me overcome these unforeseen financial hardships.”
“My total prorated tax burden is 13000 Euros. Thankfully due to my relationship with the fine folks at Juno UK production costs for the double album will be covered in advance. Accounting and shipping costs to contributors who would like a physical copy of the double vinyl album will also need to be covered, as well as general administration and promotion costs. As such the total for this campaign is 15000 Euros.”
Currently, Scott is hard at work in the studio producing 2 tracks per week, which will be delivered to contributors, mastered and ready for prime time DJ and cozy living room play. If the campaign is successful the album is slated for release in October.
“The majority of the 8 tracks will be dancefloor focused, though a portion will certainly satisfy the interests of those into the more dubby and ambient portions of my previous catalogue.”
For those that can help, here is a breakdown of what you will get for your contribution:
20 EUR – 2 tracks per week digitally over the 4 weeks of July
