Brooklyn-based production duo Francis Harris (Frank) and Anthony Collins (Tony) mark their return to the long player format with the release of a new single ‘Olympia (with Eliana Glass‘, taken from their forthcoming double LP, due for release in March.
Following up four notable EP’s on Scissor and Thread, plus a recent release on Vancouver-based record label Pacific Rhythm, Frank & Tony prepare to break a decade-long stasis from the album format.
Packing nine chugging tracks, ‘Ethos‘ serves up a suave blend of deep beat house music replete with sublime textured synthwork, resulting in a velvety smooth swathe of emotions.
The album also features track contributions from Dial co-founder Lawrence, American producer Darand Land, plus DJ Aakmael – who recently remixed Will Long’s latest single ‘Too Much’. Eliana Glass also lends her signature sultry vocals on ‘Olympia‘ and ‘Cecile‘.
Speaking about the album and project, Frank & Tony comment: “House music has always been an expression of political desire as it often was the only safe space for communities to come together in ways that society at large disallowed. The same energy in the ‘90s could be found in parts of the (punk hardcore scene). Countercultures exist to create temporary autonomous zones of desire outside of dominant narratives that are roadblocks to creation. We have always been inspired by these countercultural movements and the Frank & Tony project is deeply influenced by it.”
‘Ethos’ is scheduled for release on 22nd March via Scissor and Thread. Order a vinyl copy from Inverted Audio Store and digital from Bandcamp.
