Another week, another episode of mind-expansion from our sister mix series Newtype Rhythms – this time courtesy of one of Egypt’s most exciting musical exports, Hassan Abou Alam.
After releasing for the likes of Rakete and Casa Voyager, Abou Alam released ‘T44‘ on Violet’s Naivety sub-imprint, which rose up the Bandcamp best-sellers only a few days after its release.
Hassan’s more recent output is a follow-up five-tracker on the main Naive imprint, entitled ‘It Spills‘ – a magnificent display of stylistic and sonic range that explores the comfortable sub-frequent nooks of acid, bass, breaks and grime with refreshing results.
The impeccable attention to detail that Abou Alam shows in his productions also co-exists within his selecting, as he delivers a calculating, dizzying and memorable guest mix for Newtype Rhythms. Check out his mix at 40 minutes in, with resident Sheepshead starting things off per usual.
