The latest episode in our sister mix series comes from London funky luminary LR Groove, fresh off a release from his Renk Groove imprint – entitled ‘The Roll Out‘ EP. The last few months have found the rhythmic legend put his stamp on labels such as Livity Sound and Future Sound, both with collaborations with Razzler Man and DJ Polo, as well as solely on his own.
The unmistakable groove that lies within his tracks immediately inject a sense of urgency and enthusiasm that makes him stand out amongst his contemporaries both known and unknown – and with ‘The Roll Out’ EP, he throws out bass-rattling drums, crackling kicks and ruminant rhythms that make us ready for what comes next for the funky savant.
Thankfully, LR Groove’s mix for Newtype Rhythms features a healthy helping of unreleased dubs to keep listeners satiated at the moment. Check out the excellent mix at 41 minutes, with resident Sheepshead kicking things up per usual.
