Polish producer and sound artist Lutto Lento returns with 2568 E.P., a 7-inch release on Belgian imprint Meakusma, marking his first new music since 2020’s single-sided 7″ ‘Stuck‘ on LA-based label Peak Oil.
2568 E.P. finds Lubomir Grzelak once again bending the logic of recorded sound. Created during his time in Los Angeles – while the city was gripped by wildfires – the record channels destruction and rebirth into an intense, immersive sound world. The title piece, 2568, features haunting vocals by Antonina Nowacka and a children’s choir, originally composed for a video work by Aga Beaupré depicting a figure both drowning and burning.
Echoing the surrealist spirit of The Residents, 2568 E.P. is both absurdist and intimate – a collection of fractured narratives from the deep, simultaneously cold and tender, mechanical and human. Highlights include ‘Suburban Pagans (with Enhancement)’ — a collaboration with Enhancement, the new project of Ben Babbitt – and ‘Go Eat Worms (MOBBS Version)’, a dark, warped reimagining by London’s MOBBS. Together, these tracks radiate a sense of hauntological unease.
With a discography spanning back to 2011 – including releases on Where To Now?, DUNNO Recordings, Haunter Records, F T D, Transatlantyk, and Proto Sites – Lutto Lento has long stood apart as one of Poland’s most singular producers. Known for his idiosyncratic productions and eclectic DJ sets that blur genre boundaries, he also composes for theatre, film, and contemporary dance, weaving diverse influences into a distinctive sonic language.
‘2568’ E.P. is scheduled for release 7th November via Meakusma. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
