Philipp Stoffel launches new label Akte with solo EP feat .VRIL remix

Following a series of acclaimed club nights at Gewölbe in Cologne – featuring artists such as Psyk, Wata Igarashi and Altinbas – German producer Philipp Stoffel launches his own label with a debut solo EP, bolstered with a remix by fellow German artist VRIL.

Born from the hypnotic, bass-driven energy of those late-night sessions, Akte (German for “File”) is a new imprint dedicated to ambient, minimal, and techno-oriented sounds. Its first release is a heavyweight 12″ showcasing four original cuts from Stoffel, alongside a raw, dub-inflected remix by .VRIL that adds a deep, textured layer to the record.

Speaking about the concept, Philipp explains: “I wanted to move beyond pure techno tools and instead approach the EP like a condensed LP – offering a diverse listening experience while maintaining a cohesive sonic texture.”

Mastered by Stefan Betke (aka Pole), the EP is complemented by a strikingly grainy sleeve design from Berlin-based artist Friedrich Breidenich, whose artwork visually echoes the release’s tactile, atmospheric aesthetic.

Ahead of its release, we turn our attention to the refracted dub workout ‘Radius‘. Its title offers a subtle nod to Stephen Hitchell’s production alias, hinting at the track’s lineage. ‘Radius‘ unfolds as a deep, spacious dub techno piece — rich in atmosphere and laced with intermittent sci-fi electronics that ripple through its sparse, immersive soundscape.

‘Akte 001’ is scheduled for release on 13th June via Akte. Order a vinyl copy from Inverted Audio Record Store.
