Since his debut album landed two years ago on Blind Jacks Journey, Istanbul-via-London based producer Aleksandir kept steadily sculpting and polishing a melodic signature both lightsome and wistful, entirely geared toward casting a subtle, muted ambience on the dancefloor. If his recent ‘Yamaha‘ EP on Tessellate undeniably marked a leap forward in terms of textural arrangements and harmonic construction, Aleksandir’s latest for Church, ‘Contrails‘, nails it with further conviction.
Masterfully woven from start to finish, the album puts on a lavish palette of cross-continental flavours, discreetly investigating the roots and shoots of Istanbul’s metropolitan essence. Our premiere ‘Lowdown‘ is an equally meditative and groovy number, nimbly walking the line between silk-touch dancefloor functionality and poetic contemplation. Coupling the vaporous, Indian summer-friendly spell of slow-scudding pads with a playful, bouncy bass and pearly chimes, Aleksandir entices and captivates, delivering one of this summer’s most luscious deep house plates.
Contrails is released via Church on 31st August, pre-order a copy from Juno.
