Premiere: Aria Rostami – Water Returning

Cementing their 10th release, Brooklyn-based imprint Intimate Inanimate deliver the seven-track ‘Water From The River’ EP from label head honcho Aria Rostami.

Highly praised after his previous appearances on San Francisco-based Dark Entries Records, Glacial Movements and Zoom Lens, ‘Water From The River‘ EP embraces ancestral drumming techniques from Persian folklore combined with a blend of jungle-infused IDM, celestial polyrhythms and psyched-out downtempo. Recommended if you’re into Mohammad Reza Mortazavi and Burnt Friedman.

Our pick from the EP is the fifth track ‘Water Returning‘ – a blue-emerald ambient voyage in which Rostami conveys the feeling of lost thoughts, trudging relentlessly through a vast kelp forest in the abyssal waters, rustling in synergy all along the way. ‘Water Returning‘ incorporates sub-filtered oscillations, FX-heavy frequencies and ebullient arpeggios to create an aura of healing and comfort enclosed in a soundproofed sarcophagus.

‘Water From The River’ EP is scheduled for release on 17th May on Intimate Inanimate. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
