With a decade of notable releases by American producers King Britt, Laura BCR, Eliott Litrowski, and Far Out Radio Systems, Utrecht-based record label Something Happening Somewhere prepares to release ‘Binding elements‘, courtesy of Dutch producer Bas Dobbelaer.
After previous appearances on Al Wootton’s imprint Trule Records and Something Happening Somewhere, Bas line up a 10-track collection encapsulating ambient symbology rooted in light-faded aesthetics, drumming mysticism and self-reflective frequencies.
Our pick from the release is ‘Afterglow‘ – a cuddling breeze that transports floating reflections in a proto-moonlight landscape. With flecks of digital drum pads and soothing synth textures, the Amsterdam-based producer tells a story of distant worlds.
