Featuring sought-after records from Prins Thomas, Moscoman, Psychemagik and Optimo among its discography, Ghent-based Eskimo Recordings line up the second instalment from the compilation series ‘Next Wave Acid Punx‘, curated by Berlin-based DJ and musician Luca Venezia – also known as Curses.
Consisting of dark disco regulars including synth duo Boy Harsher, Italian band Nuovo Testamento and Years of Denial, plus obscure icons including proto-industrial art group Throbbing Gristle, British band Nitzer Ebb and anarchist mastermind Malcolm McLaren. With 49 tracks, this compilation shifts confidently through the dance library, channeling an industrial dose of extra smoke, rugged and raw EBM, and post-punk thrills.
Our pick from the release is ‘Darkness‘ – a gloomy anthem for dusk swingers interpreted by the Berlin-based trio Dina Summer. As Dina Summer guides us through the shrine of Epicurus she weaves together a dense tapestry of sinful vocals, inky synths, decadent snares, and shivering bass sequences.
