Head operator of the rising Banlieue Records – host to a couple of excellent VAs featuring the likes of N1L, DJ Overdose, Tom Dicicco and more, to which you can add another pair of solo releases from the bossman himself, Benoit B is slowly but surely making his mark in the Berlin scene, breathing some fresh air into a sometimes stale and smug environment.
His new effort for another offshore French label, the excellent Peur Bleue, proves once again the immediate impact forces of his intricate constructions: lacing up versatile gamuts of hypnotic 4/4 rhythms, sun-kissed synth waves and opaque ambiences through cohesive yet transformative assemblages of sound.
Our premiere, ‘Crystal Fuselage‘, loops the loop through hallucinogenic pathways and mesmeric patterns. Moving from a binary incipit, rife with a herd of muffled kicks lashing in orderly fashion, the track evolves into a supple vortex of synthesized euphoria, tracing the contours to a vibrant utopian vibe, as opposed to its rather over-exploited ‘dystopian’ negative. A good omen for techno, definitely.
Tropico Timelexia EP is released via Peur Bleue on 14th November 2016, pre-order a copy from Chez Emile Records.
