Following the release of his debut double LP last August via budding Swiss arts collective Project Indigo, Zurich-based producer Boaksi drums up an array of like minded producers to remix his sublime album ‘i thought it was yesterday‘.
As I sit in the sunstroke-inducing heatwave that is currently sizzling London, ‘i thought it was yesterday (remixes)’ is a near perfect soundtrack to this sweltering heat. Featuring remixes from deep house heavyweights; JVXTA, Lawrence, Louf, noc.turne plus an edit from Al Zanders, it’s Soela‘s remix of the concluding track from the original album that steals the show.
‘A New Direction / Dovetail‘ is a meandering sun-kissed shuffler, replete with 909 drums, melody rich piano, reverberated vocals, field recordings of woodland ambiance and muffled bird song. This is sophisticated house music, suited for deep thoughts and leisurely walks.
