London-based record label More Cowbell are set to deliver their first vinyl release this month. Run by Eich, the emerging imprint is a must-watch for those interested in bassy techno hybrids. ‘Crooked’ also marks the return of Caski, the producer’s first full release since 2017.
Caski’s sound is, in his own words, “non-conforming, bass heavy and abstract in places”. It’s a fair description of the Bristol-based producer’s music, which has landed on labels like Tectonic and Keysound Recordings and explores the intersection of genres including grime, dubstep, techno.
Despite a few years away from the scene, ‘Crooked’ sees Caski in fine form, with three sub-heavy tracks covering a range of tempos. Our pick is the title track, a texturally diverse percussive number that’s cloaked in ominous atmospherics.
‘Crooked’ is scheduled for release 17 November via More Cowbell. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
