Since its launch back in 2014, Los Angeles’ Material Image has kept building bridges between the local underground and the worldwide circuit, relying on artists as diverse and compatible as Royer, Force Placement, EL TA, Maxine & Cleo, Aschof Mal and more, to convey their message.
Coming next on the label is another familiar face of the LA house scene in the person of Nikola Hlady, aka Cromie. His debut number for Material Image, ‘Cromie’s Habit‘, gives up on the jacking discoid facet of his previous releases for Peach and Amadeus Records, draping in lusher ambient-leaning folds and textured synth tapestries to maintain its listener in a sort of hypnagogic haze.
Lifted from the package – which also includes a featuring with longtime collaborator Iron Curtis and a remix from Paris-based talent Royer, our premiere ‘Told‘ is a dreamy slice of tribal-esque ambient house that rapidly grows into a laid-back breakbeat weapon as cascading drums and hypnotic pads usher you into a musical land of milk and honey. Pleasure for the senses guaranteed.
Cromie’s Habit is released via Material Image on 29th October, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
