Following Gabo Rio’s ‘Homesick’ EP, Backdoor Records are back with the next entry in their main label series. The Florida-based imprint and mastering studio are pleased to welcome Peruvian producer DJ Casanouva to the fold, the producer’s aptly-titled ‘From Lima to Tampa (and Back Again)’ taking the label into the double digits.
Based in Lima, Dj Casanouva seems to favour the kind of functional and highly-polished cuts that are equally suited to the lounge as to the club. The tracks on ‘From Lima to Tampa (and Back Again)’ showcase his take on the jazzier side of deep house.
Our pick from the EP is Jus-Ed’s remix of ‘Juicy Booty’. The Berlin-based artist, who’s behind the long-running Underground Quality label, has clearly taken a shine to the original’s vibraphone loop. Also emphasising the dreamy pads in his remix, he takes the track to new heady heights.
