Sun’s baking, bodies are dripping. Yet, if you thought summer was the perfect season for vegging out and procrastinating, think again. Not easing off the gas pedal in the least, Gold Coast via Berlin-based imprint Nerang Recordings keeps gathering momentum even in the hottest of seasons, and the label may well be held accountable for a few degrees more on the world’s temperature scale. Clocking in at number 7 in the imprint’s catalogue we find Vienna’s lo-fi vibist DOS stepping up with a much solid 12″ delivery, ‘Can’t Even‘, due for landing around the time kids will be back at school and the heatwave will be over and out. This doesn’t include dancefloors.
Streaming through our channels today, we’re glad to present ‘All Night Long‘ – a straight jacking house pumper that’s shade in the blood and Chicago in the rearview. Blending in a fine mix of the classic, no-nonsense 4/4 shuffle with textured drums, languid riffs and a dusk-time Miami Vice kind of atmosphere, the track manages to find the right balance between the vaporous haziness of its ambience and enhanced club-dedicated dynamics. Pulsating yet fluid in nature, wistful but far from nostalgic, the groove keeps going forward – no matter the elusive, digressive charm of the melody it conducts. One for the late night drives across the sleeping city and deserted streets.
Can’t Even is released via Nerang Recordings in late September 2018.
