Following her critically acclaimed debut album ‘For Organ and Brass‘, Stockholm-based composer Ellen Arkbro returns to Subtext Recordings with ‘CHORDS‘ – a new twofold piece for organ and guitar that explores further the harmonic space in between struck chord movements and the consecutive vibrational force flowing throughout such spaciously laid-out intervals.
Premiereing over at IA today, ‘CHORDS for guitar‘ requires complete attention to be tasted in all its width and depth. Consisting in successive waves of guitar strumming progressively morphing into FX-altered ripples of pure abstract sound, Arkbro’s finespun chamber piece evolves according to a changing scale of echoed tension and meditation-friendly breathing spaces to better engulf us into a zero-G kind of inward-gazing scenario. Clear your mind and learn to feel again.
CHORDS is released via Subtext Recordings on 7th June, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp. Ellen will be performing at the medieval St Giles’ Cripplegate church in London on 22nd June, tickets and info here.
