Four years after their inaugural release, Cape Town-based record label Kulture Lab line up a six-track ‘KULTURE SHOCK’ compilation aimed o celebrate subterranean club aesthetics.
In addition to Dutch producer Marijn S, dxnte-667, Kulture Lab’s co-founder tipp.exe, Ecuadorian-born Emilio Arias and Göteborg-based producer Aberrant Electro, ‘KULTURE SHOCK’ features lo-fi trap, frenetic breaks, post-human drum & bass, ethereal juke and peak-time jungle rhythms.
Our pick for the premiere is ‘Playground Politics‘ from production duo Fear & Self Loathing, respectively known as Aberrant Electro and tipp.exe. With its post-borealis soundscapes enhanced with deconstructed amen breaks and dewy-eyed synthesizers, Fear & Self Loathing specialise in tempering level-headed ministers for idle moments of ecstatic footwork.
‘KULTURE SHOCK’ VA is scheduled for release on 5th April via Kulture Lab. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
