Premiere: Youniss – Out Of Context

After his previously acclaimed solo effort ‘White Space‘ on Belgian imprint VIERNULVIER, Antwerp-based misfit Youniss returns with a self-released four-track EP entitled ‘Do We Try Beyond The Edge?‘.

Following numerous releases on Belgian imprint Cape St. Francis under the moniker Jeez Marquis, ‘Do We Try Beyond The Edge?‘ explores conflicted emotions arising from post-punk ecology, abstract hip-hop and lo-fi experimental.

Our pick for the premiere is ‘Out Of Context‘ – a baneful drum & bass anthem capturing the moody atmosphere of post-punk catacombs. An explosion of synthesizers, computerized lyrics of poetic chaos, and distorted guitars are followed by post-punk utterances and experimental 160 BPM drum rhythms in ‘Out Of Context’, which is a testament to putting up with Belgium’s dark colonial history.

‘Do We Try Beyond The Edge?’ EP is scheduled for release on 19th April. Order a cassette copy from Bandcamp.
