Following in the wake of standout releases from Efdemin, Inland, Clotur and Gotshell, Ed Davenport’s Berlin-based imprint is going from strength to strength. Next up on Counterchange is a 4-track extended player from HAL, including a track collaboration with fellow Leipzig native Perm.
Spanning dub techno, electro and euphoric polyrhythms, ‘Placid’ is a surefire club focussed EP, with each track demanding full rotation. However it’s the collaboration between HAL and Perm that steals the attention for us.
Sounding akin to the output of Efdemin, this epic 10-minute roller named ‘Kido‘ elevates listeners with harmonic and transcendental synths, laying down the groundwork for fast paced drums to pick up the pace around the 3:30 minute mark. Alleviating dancers and listeners for a much needed release.
‘Placid’ EP is scheduled for release 5 August via Counterchange. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
