Milan-based Beat Machine Records line up the release of ‘Drifted Entities Vol. 2‘, the second instalment from the mind of Italian sound collagist Healing Force Project, delivering a celestial blend of abstract jazz, trip-hop and drum-heavy trance-inducing music.
Healing Force Project is the production alias of Antonio Marini, who projects a bold energy similar to the vibe of Jon Hassell, Muslimgauze, Sun Ra and Rabih Beaini. To enter Marini’s musical universe is to veer off into a wild sandlot where free jazz and altered kosmische tropes merge with a shape-shifting assemblage of oddball electronics and archaic tribalisms; walking the line between hypertensive melodic lines and laid-back meditative soundscapes with unmatched acoustic mastery.
Perhaps it’s because I recently watched Francis Ford Coppola’s epic war film Apocalypse Now, but I just cannot stop attributing the aura of ‘It’s Your Brain Food‘ to the music featured on Clean’s Death – irrevocably abstract jazz. ‘It’s Your Brain Food‘ delivers sultry jazz and real life drums. Liquid pads and acidic sequences provide an eerie downtempo vibe and a palpable sense of anxiety.
