Premiere: IADI – Synapse

IADI debuts with Under My Skin on Neo Life, a sub-label of the Back To Life which boasts reissues from the likes of Ron Trent, Chez Damier, Mike Huckaby and Gez Varley. A concept album, its themes centre around the increasingly technological systems we find ourselves enmeshed in, the ever-blurring line drawn between man and machine.

Sonically, the album spans the electro, breakbeat and techno fields, a break from the label’s preceding house and then trip hop releases. Synapse encapsulates the broken, brain-tickling aesthetic that IADI establishes across the LP.

A pleasingly textured and layered affair, screeching synth lines cut through a brooding low end and soft, majestically rising, then falling chord sequencing. All layered over a faltering, fractured breakbeat, this combination of sharp and soft, stuttering and flowing, effectively places the track in that intersection between the cold machine world and the warm, emotive human influence.

‘Under My Skin’ is out on 3rd April via Neo Life. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
