Two years since their inaugural release, Iptamenos Discos line up ‘WUT‘ – which means rage in German, courtesy of Jakob Häglsperger, better known as Kalipo, also part of the dark disco band Dina Summer and electro-punk trio Frittenbude.
Following appearances on Christian Löffler’s label Ki Records, Hamburg-based label Audiolith Records and Polish imprint Otake Records, the Berlin-based keyboardist, bassist, songwriter and producer lines up an eight-track mini-LP oscillating between snake charm dark disco, obscure post-punk atmospheres and new wave. Rounded off with collaborations with Berlin-based duo Local Suicide and Florida-born vocalist Joy Tyson.
Our pick from the release is ‘Echoes From The Past‘ – a reverence for surreptitious truths interpreted by Kalipo alongside the Berlin-based producer couple Local Suicide. Through an analog fish-eye lens, we are plunged into a proto-dancefloor myth adorned with kaleidoscopic synth lasers, obscure EBM arpeggios, and distant chants.
‘WUT’ is scheduled for release 13th October via Iptamenos Discos. Order a vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
