The latest episode of our sister mix series Newtype Rhythms arrives with an exhilarating and immersive journey into sub-frequencies – courtesy of Janus Rose, a multi-talented DJ, producer, and synthesist hailing from the heart of Brooklyn.
Janus Rose crafts her sonic magic with an eclectic array of tools, from modular synths to a Nintendo Game Boy; her artistic ethos is deeply rooted in the DIY spirit, weaving together elements of cyber-feminism and the vibrancy of queer rave culture.
Janus Rose’s sonic prowess has not only resonated domestically but also across the globe, captivating audiences with performances across Australia, Europe and Japan. In 2023, she added another layer to her musical journey by contributing a terrific remix on the LA-based queer label Delusional Records.
Adding to her impressive compositions is her approach to DJing where she effortlessly weaves the thread between burrowing basslines and technolytic tumult – which is why we’re so eager to share this immersive guest mix with you, starting at 45 minutes in. As always, resident and host Sheepshead warms things up in the opening, sprinkling some bass mutations at the top.
