TV Showw’s visual identity, imagined by illustrator Claude Joyeux, fits the kind of vibrant and expressive sonics favoured by the Parisian record label. With tracks by local favourites as well as names from further afield, their forthcoming compilation presents a fine overview of their tastes.
In addition to increasingly well-known Parisians like Basile3 and Etienne 4U, TV Showw have recruited Russia’s винер and Danish duo Lyra Valenza for their 9th release. Following outings for Black Opal, SHAPE and their own Petrola 80 imprint, the Copenhagen producers seem right at home amongst this crop of contemporary club experimentalists.
As the name suggests, ‘Thunder Dub’ owes much to sound system culture. Along with ample servings of both bass and reverb, the pair demonstrate their mastery of break splicing here. The result is an agile stepper, one awash with atmospheric pads and glistening synths.
