After a rather quiet 2016, Montreal’s Forbidden Planet came back to life full force last year with a triad of releases courtesy of Farron, Lumpex and Patrick Conway. Finally back after some massive delays at the pressing plant, the Canadian imprint welcomes Chilean producer Matias Contreras aka Mas569, alias the main operator behind Santiago-based label Cazeria Cazador.
A driving force in Chile’s underground new wave, Contreras substantially contributed to the rise of fresh, unheard talents in a country where electronic music remains a niche and socio-political issues a blatant problem. His latest for Forbidden Planet, ‘Vamos A Entrar Desde Afuera‘, featuring three cuts of the finest standard, further entrenches him as one of the South American artists to follow.
Taken from the present package, we’re glad to share the opening cut ‘Raza‘ – a fine slab of acute, photo-voltaic powered Detroit electro, tinged with hints of faded futuristic tropes, spin-wheeling synthwave and lashing percussive breaks. Cruising across neon-lit spheres and intergalactic time zones, the track will have you weighing anchor onto lusher, plusher Utopian horizons effortlessly.
Vamos A Entrar Desde Afuera is released via Forbidden Planet on 18th June, pre-order a copy from Juno.
