Premiere: Pépe – Quicksand

Even though the city’s best known for the leading edge quality of its ’90s techno legacy, Valencia also happens to shelter a new generation of chillax vibe-mongers – lead by local rising star Jose Bernat aka Pépe. After a much hectic 2017 season, marked by releases on the likes of In Records, Deep Sea Frequency, Lobster Theremin, Anti Skate and Renascence, the Spanish producer returns to the latter with ‘Futurepresent EP‘, a fizzy house four-track delight for the sunny days.

Lifted from this lavish package of lighthearted melodies, the B-side highlight ‘Quicksand‘ dips its wiggling toes in a sea of woozy pads and ethereal sound design, conjuring up images of idyllic Caribbean strands and lucid waters rife with a vivid, polyphonic fauna of chimes and lithe sub-bass fluxes, while dancing manta rays and colour-shufting jellyfishes blaze a trail across luxuriantly decorated coral tunnels and anemone-coated chambers. Get onto that smooth rolling electro-breakbeat groove and let yourself get carried away into a lusher-than-lush subaquatic daydream.

Futurepresent EP is released via Renascence on 25th May, pre-order a copy from Juno.
