New York-based record label Black Knoll prepare to release ‘FAÇADISMS’ from label boss and multi-instrumentalist Rafael Anton Irisarri.
Responsible for ethereal soundscapes on Ghostly International as The Sight Below and on Ryan Griffin’s label A Strangely Isolated Place, American producer Rafael Anton Irisarri returns with a collection of eight compositions that epitomise his forward-thinking approach to ambient music. Interweaving droned out soundscapes with cavernous guitars and granular atmospherics.
Drawing its name from the French word ‘façade‘ – symbolising the alluring veneer that masks the hidden depths of decay – ‘FAÇADISMS’ engulfs archaic emotions in a cocoon of serenity. It balances a fragile beauty with an undercurrent of primal trauma, channeling a visceral sense of spite beneath its polished exterior.
Our pick is ‘Red Moon Tide’, a striking collaboration with Kenyan ambient producer KMRU. Blending multilayers of hi-fi soundscapes with rumbling low-end frequencies, sci-fi chorus progressions, and eerie, spine-tingling textures, the piece transports listeners into a surreal venture through twisted dreams set against crimson-hued moonscapes.
‘FAÇADISMS’ is scheduled for release 8th November via Black Knoll. Order a vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
