Thessaloniki-based amplified silence imprint To Pikap prepare to release their twenty-sixth release consisting of an arsenal of five braindance tunes- courtesy of UK producer Raj Pannu.
The highly anticipated ‘Past Crimes‘ EP, a synthesis of infectious broken beat, IDM-inspired brain massages, and ambient soundscapes, comes after a four-year hiatus, a long-term collaboration with Ninja Tune’s Coldcut and a couple of releases on Greek imprint Not Now Records and Man Power’s label Me Me Me.
Our pick from the release is ‘Brute‘ – a 135BPM earworm groove similar to what you could have found on IG Culture’s Main Squeeze in the early 2000’s. Infused with a complex arrangement of drums, a high dosage of low frequencies and interplanetary synthesizer signals, Raj Pannu reminds us that it’s never too late to confess our nearly forgotten sins.
