Hailing from Hamburg, Germany, The Press Group is a label that seems to have more gas in the tank than its quiet ratio of one release a year seems to indicate. Initially launched in 2014, Rupert Marnie‘s imprint has been solely used as a vehicle to the mysterious character’s output, deftly stretching from wistful deep house onto further elegant dubby slices.
Following up to the promising ‘Masala‘ and ‘4 Days‘ EPs, Marnie’s back with the ‘Dog‘ EP, channeling his subtle craft into one powerful three-track journey complete with minutely textured ambiences, multipolar depth and straight rolling and sliding grooves.
Today we’re glad to present the second track off Marnie’s highly-stylised third effort, i.e. the excellent ‘Dog Terminal‘. Revolving around an obsessive backwash of reverb-drenched vocal fragments, flanged percs and wisely dispensed piano stabs, the track remains no less funky and rousing, as Rupert keeps you in the swing with his impeccable sense of buildup and timing. Hypnotic!
