Premiere: Shjva – I Expected That

Following up ‘Tetris Life’ from Moisk in April 2024, Munich-based imprint Terra Magica returns to the fray with ‘I Expected That’, a split extended player spotlighting the talents of Shjva and Pyramid Of Knowledge.

Spread across five tracks, this release is a masterclass in genre-melding alchemy. Shjva, the Ukrainian-born, now Warsaw-residing producer, delivers two celestial stompers that pull from the deepest wells of laidback trance euphoria. Meanwhile, Seoul-based French producer Pyramid Of Knowledge takes the reins with a trio of neo-Goa heaters, fast and merciless, designed to ignite dancefloors with an astral charge.

Our pick is ‘I Expected That’ by Shjva, which unfolds like a cyberpunk fever dream. At 105 BPM, it’s a dubbed-out chugger adorned with effervescent frequencies that ripple like digital fireworks in a dystopian panorama. This is post-blues for the space age, bubbling arpeggios and interplanetary echoes weave a textural tapestry, evoking a high-voltage mantra for those tethered to the chaos of modernity.

‘I Expected That’ EP is scheduled for release on 3rd March via Terra Magica Records. Order a vinyl copy from Bandcamp.
