Reinventing itself release after release without ever freezing the scope to a fixed genre, Fragil Musique is a label that sure doesn’t lack any get-up-and-go. After a string of quality releases from artists as diverse as The Analogue Cops, Imugem Orihasam, Nummer, Cosmjn to name but a few, the Nantes-born, Paris-relocated imprint steps up with its debut VA long-player, ‘Fragilistic‘ – a hefty double 12-inch package featuring cuts from close collaborators and like-minded artists, including the likes of Simo Cell, Krikor, Jäfar, Design Default, Vidock, Bazarov and more.
If the first two sides explore a wide spectrum of club-oriented rhythms and dancey tropes, the other two delve into further spacious atmospherics and left-of-centre sonic experiments. Our premiere, Simo Cell ‘World3‘ dwells in a dimension of its own – slowly gliding across a reflective canopy of glassy textures and bristling organic samples on a nu-age tip, this one wouldn’t feel out of place in Stalker, so much it recalls the opaque melodies and soft-touch mysticism of Artemyev’s mesmeric compositions. Welcome to a zone of unadulterated abstract beauty.
