Following 2023’s ‘Dark Forest‘, San Francisco producer Michael Claus debuts a new moniker, Slow Blink, on his Silva Electronics imprint. Where productions under his own name trend towards dreamy dub techno sounds, Slow Blink embraces a rougher, more rugged club tone. ‘Liminal Point‘ features two new tracks plus a “rave edit” and remixes by Farsight and Pteron.
Our pick for the premiere is the title track, ‘Liminal Point‘. Kicking off with a wall of blasted synths, Claus hammers the rhythm into oblivion as unsettling key patterns emerge alongside warped beats and vibes that give even the seasoned rave veteran a darker aesthetic with which to move their feet.
Slow Blink provides a welcome detour from Claus’ usual sonic palette with deep, raw, and adventurous club vibes. With ‘Liminal Point’, Slow Blink charts an exciting direction for the producer, one which rewards repeat listens and leaves us waiting for more.
