Since the release of their excellent debut VA 12″ a few months ago, Gold Coast’s Nerang Recordings have clearly been on the upward path, establishing as a surefire provider of OZ-bred underground house and techno. Busy shedding a broader light on the local scene all the while growing a substantial catalogue of high-rated up-and-comers, the Aussie label will return just in time for international Xmas celebrations with a fresh new comp featuring Adelaide talent Subjoi, Manchester’s Interplanetary Criminal, Danish duo Slim Hustla and Berlin-based Jesse Bru.
Our premiere, Subjoi’s acid-dipped piano house chugger ‘Signal Point‘ oozes pure holiday chill and balmy beach vibes. Combining malleable 303 arpeggios with a swift flock of bleepy panpipes and languid chords, the track unfolds an equally smooth and generous groove, losing yourself into a pulsating liquid dream. Put on your diving mask and flippers, take a deep breath and plunge into lushly landscaped crystalline waters where clownfishes curl up in fluorescing anemones and the coral reef moves along the shuffling rhythms of the flow. Bewitching.
NRNGVA002 is released via Nerang Recordings on 24th December, pre-order a copy from Bandcamp.
