Premiere: Tension – Body Opulent (feat. Artemon)

When it comes to percussive persuasion, no one does it better than the Cork-based Flood crew. The heavyweight trifecta of Doubt, Syn and Tension have provided hard drum heaters for dancefloors over the last couple of years with seriously impressive results – grasping emphatic energy and melding it with memorable rhythmic patterns on their label. Now, the imprint enters a new chapter with their first LP at the ready, courtesy of co-founder Tension.

‘In Cascade’ is a look into what can be explored within the sonic spectrum of hard drum conceptually; be it slower tempos, different time signatures or elemental sound design. Ahead of the release of the LP, we pick ‘Body Opulent’ as our premiere – a preview of what’s to come with some of the exuberant pomp displayed in previous hard drum tracks, mixed with melancholic yet ascendant melodies.

The track by itself is a gorgeous tapestry of what the genre is blossoming into, and what kind of productions we should expect in the future from the mind of Tension, in this a collaboration with university classmate and fellow Cork artist Artemon. Check out the track after the jump and hear for yourself.

‘In Cascade’ is schedule for release 12 June via Flood. Order a copy from Bandcamp.
