Face covered and steps muffled through a deadening blizzard of tape saturation and white noise-y envelops, Tlim Shug quietly makes his way across the ever effervescent lo-fi house scene. With a trio of releases on Echovolt Records, Bobby Donny and E-Beamz under his belt and hopefully more solo ammo to come this year, the elusive producer is back in business this summer with a fine contribution to the debut VA of a newly-formed label, Online Conversations.
Streaming in full through our channels, ‘Dream Control‘ closes the EP on a languid, dopey note – tailored for late night lounging sesh in the basement. Setting skittish drums and heavily altered vox samples against a grey-ish canvas of blurry, washed-out pads, Tlim Shug deploys an arsenal of textures and FX that don’t fill in substantial lacks but serve a real purpose of deepening the sense of immersion and carving out a growingly satisfying contrast between the shivery charm of its melodic line and the roughness of its elements. A rough diamond.
Converpilations Vol.1 is released via Online Conversations on 25th August, pre-order a copy from Lobster Records.
