Premiere: Warriors of the Dystotheque – Looking Through Balearic Es

London-based record label DSPPR helmed by Chris Coco gear up to issue the 8-track ‘It’s A Beautiful Thing’ LP from Ibiza-based supergroup Warriors of the Dystotheque – consisting of Jonny Mac, Sean Graham, NYC’s twins Mike and Nick Rufalo and Undertones drummer Kevin Sharkey.

The Warriors of the Dystotheque, usually found in Ibiza’s legendary Pikes Club, return with their third album consisting of eight level-headed ballads recorded in the wetlands of Florida. ‘It’s A Beautiful Thing‘ stands at the intersection of Arcadian balearic, trip-hop and broken beat interwoven with jazz-funk elements.

Our pick is ‘Looking Through Balearic Es‘ – a streamlined piece of downtempo adorned with a multiplex of jazz-infused keys and space-delayed hi-hats unsettling the atmosphere underpinned by Simon Sheldon and celestial guitar riffs from Dan Dub Lounge. In a matter of seconds, Warriors of the Dystotheque transport listeners to the iconic white island’s sea-facing caves, at the source of a long-forgotten balearic utopia.

‘It’s A Beautiful Thing’ is scheduled for release 5 July via DSPPR. Order a copy from Bandcamp
