Having debuted earlier this year with a fast-moving, acidic-jazz inflected split courtesy of Marcello Napoletano and Richeart, London-based label Gravity Graffiti glide into hip-hop and disco realms for their sophomore release ‘Tell Me What’, featuring Japanese legend Soichi Terada and Early Sounds Recordings mainstay Whodamanny.
Whodamanny, also part of The Mystic Jungle Tribe and The Normalmen, shows up with two reworks of Terada’s bouncy hip-hop & house ballad ‘Tell Me What‘. The ‘Post Modern Jazz Interpretation‘ premiered below strips the original track of its ecstatic funkiness: Manny delays the melody and its Parliament ‘Let Me Be‘ kind of vibe, challenging his Casio and Yamaha keyboards with a myriad of rocket-propelled sounds. Proper funky abstract expressionism.
Tell Me What is released via Gravity Graffiti on 1st August 2016, pre-order a vinyl copy from Juno.
